Preferring to debate the issue rather than personalities and process, I left the following comment, which was not published. Since I am writing on my own blog and a few friendly blogs where I can use html and won't be censored, I am adding hyperlinks to my sources so that readers can verify the quotes and examine their context.
Adhominem attack is against the debater not her facts: you labeled Geller "bigot". You denounce 'violent extremists'; do you denounce Muhammad bin Abdullah, who dictated & dispatched extortion letters1 demanding Jizya, then followed up with his army, slaughtering, dispossessing and enslaving2 those who refused to submit ? Muhammad said that he was "raised for jihad and not for tillage"3, "sent with a sword to see that none but Allah is worshiped4" and "commanded to fight"5 with men. He also said that he was "made victorious with terror"6 but you can not denounce him as a terrorist. Who is better qualified to define Jihad: you or two who translated the Qur'an? "Al-Jihâd (holy fighting) in Allâh’s Cause" [Hilali/Khan 2:190]7. Who is better qualified to define Jihad: you or the Shafi'i school of Islamic law?
